Autumn is a wonderful time to visit cellar door at Montara. Vintage 2021 is underway.
With our winemaking and vineyard team busily immersed in the joy and intensity of harvest. It is during these next few weeks that winemaker Simon Fennell will be entrenched in the process, literally elbow deep in creating the wines you will be enjoying in the future. Simon will carefully consider optimal picking times in relation to weather among a web of other individual elements that influence the later palate and texture of the wines. A mapped-out symphony, from the time fruit is hand picked off the vine to the process of how the juice is extracted and rests within the winery. All happening as the wine of 2021 starts to take shape.
This busy time is just the start of the continued engagement in creating the best expression of region, environment, and estate style wine at Montara.
It’s wonderful to sit up at cellar door watching across the vineyard reflecting on the journey of wine from vineyard to cellar door to you.
